About Greyt Greys … A greyhound-exclusive B&B!

Hello, greyt humans! I’m Nicolette Anastasiou, owner and innkeeper of Greyt Greys Bed & Breakfast. Since 1973, I have been involved in various animal rescue ventures in the U.S.A., Greece, the Bahamas, Canada, and India. Professionally, I taught elementary school, owned/operated restaurants, and taught yoga at several international ashrams.

After several years living in and traveling through Europe and Asia, I returned to American soil, landing in Fredericksburg, VA. There, I attended a meet-and-greet hosted by Virginia Greyhound Adoption (VAGA). I instantly was enamored by the breed, quickly getting adopted by the inspiration for Greyt Greys: Grace (fka Skillet Head). We were quite a diverse pack in those days!

As Will & Grace mellowed into their senior years, a petite, 18-month-old girl pranced into our lives and hearts: Daisy (fka Rio Pearl). Will & Grace were smitten with their new sister, patiently teaching her retirement etiquette, while preparing her to take over as the upcoming matriarch.

During our 1st month living in Texas, Grace and I went to a meet and greet hosted by Austin Greyhound Adoption (AGA), meeting a big boy who instantly stole our hearts: Will (fka Blazin Bronx). Together, Will & Grace fueled a passion to serve, love, and give to a breed that ultimately defined that passion.

In 2018, while fostering a sweet, deaf puppy for AGA: Sue (fka HashtagPondaSue), a scared female sought temporary shelter: Octane (fka TB’s Mix It Up). With the dedication of Greyhound Adoption League of Central Texas (GALT-Central Texas), she had been one of the lucky greys rescued from the Cherokee Blood Bank. These two special girls, with two special histories, bonded immediately and deeply.

A couple of months later, we celebrated a ‘greyt failure’ at our B&B: A double Gotcha Day for both foster girls! With our AGA and GALT-Central Texas family as witnesses, newly named Daphne & Dahlia joined Daisy in being the official members of our Greyt Greys Welcome Team.

To best serve our greyhounds, I remodeled my entire home to ensure a safe and nurturing Bed & Breakfast environment. Every room was thoughtfully designed just for their special physical & emotional needs. Inside, Greyt Greys features a 30’ wall of windows, looking out onto a park-like setting (Greyt-TV). Outdoors, Greyt Greys highlights a secure, double-gated, ⅓ acre, zoomie-yard, surrounded by a 6’ fence. The greys are muzzled when outside, 100% of the time. To meet their unique cooling needs, there are multiple pools under a 600sq.ft. covered patio, providing relief from the sun.

Like a true B&B, Greyt Greys offers special touches to every guest, every day. Our greytcations include probiotic-smoothies; dental care with healthy chews; intermittent naps on PetFusion™ sofa beds; healthful snacks of organic fruits & vegetables, as well as freeze-dried organs. We are chicken-free. Therapeutic massages are given daily, sometimes more. Whether watching GreytTV, socializing with their greyt friends, frolicking outside, splashing in The GreytPools, or turning in for the night, all guests are always in my loving and protective company…never alone, never locked away.

My vision for Greyt Greys is for us to be the extended family on which greyhounds and their caretakers can depend. Greyt Greys offers a second home and family for greyhounds to enjoy a ‘greytcation’ while their ‘humans’ must be away. We are not a Day Care Center, with dogs and humans bustling in and out. We are not a boarding facility with cages or locked, highly decorated ‘broom closets’. Hanging a few pictures does NOT make it a suite. We mirror the definition of a true Bed & Breakfast, and we welcome all our greyt friends into our hearts and family. We are honored by your consideration.

Our hounds just loved their time here. We knew they'd be taken care of and they would be safe with Greyt Greys. We'll definitely have them back for another visit!
